Disaster Recovery Plans (DRPs)
Identify clear responses to possible disasters
Provide for partial or complete recovery of data, application software, network components, and physical facilities
Includes backup and recovery controls
- Make backup copies of all data and SW routinely
- Encrypt them and store them offsite
- Some use CDP, or Continuous Data Protection with copies of all data and transactions by time stamp for ease of restoration
Should include a documented and tested approach to recovery, with formal testing
Plan for loss of main database or long outages of data center
