Sending word processing files as e-mail attachments
using Web browsers
Best viewed with Communicator or Internet Explorer.
Netscape 3:0
Setup for mail
- Options, Mail and News Preferences
- Composition: select MIME compliant
- Server: your mail server name
- Identity: your name and e-mail address
Sending message
- select File, New Mail Message
- fill in subject and to address
- click on ATTACH on the message toolbar
- select attach file AS IS
- you will see a file dialog.
- look for the file to attach (in WP or Word) and double-click on it.
- the attachment is done
- type a brief message in the bottom pane and press send.
Netscape 4.0
Setup for mail
- Edit, Preferences, Mail and groups
- Identity: enter your name and e-mail address
- Mail server: enter your user name and mail server name
- Messages: de-select By default, send HTML messages
Sending message
- Select Messenger Mailbox, Message, New Message
- fill in subject and to address
- click on ATTACH on the message toolbar and select file
- you will see a file dialog.
- look for the file to attach (in WP or Word) and double-click on it.
- the attachment is done
- type a brief message in the bottom pane and press send.
Internet Explorer 3.0 and 4.0
Setup for mail
- Select View, Options, Mail (or Programs), Select Internet Mail
- if you have not done so, it will ask you for name, e-mail address, server, etc.
Sending message
- Select Mail, New Message
- fill in subject and to address
- select Insert, File Attachment
- you will see a file dialog
- look for the file to attach (in WP or Word) and double-click on it.
- the attachment is done.
- type a brief message in the bottom pane and press send
NOTE:
Both browsers: version 3 is POP compliant, while version 4 is POP and IMAP compliant..
