Web Team Teaching Model

There are four main sets of tasks that lie behind the web team teaching model: those related to course development/Continuous Improvement; those related to activites before the course begins; those applicable during course delivery; and those important after the course is over. There are three participants involved: the course creator, the team leader, and the team teacher. The course creator is identified largely by precedence and contract as the person with the intellectual property rights to the course material. The team leader will, usually be the course creator, at least in the next few years and is charged with the supervisory duties for the team teacher. The team teacher most closely corresponds to what is an adjunct faculty in a face to face course.

All web faculty are required to update and improve both their course content and their course pedagogy. New web faculty and new team teachers are required to attend an introductory seminar on web pedagogy offered by the web director each semester.

The web director along with the associate dean are responsible for working with faculty to insure that each web course meets the UB standards for excellence.

The team leader shall teach at least one but no more than one section of the course being offered. The only exceptions to this policy shall be at the discretion of the Associate Dean.

The duties of each party are spelled out in the tables below. You will find explicit duties in each of the four phases of course teaching
