Course Description
This seminar will provide students with the opportunity to think critically about leadership challenges as presented in literature, film, other media, and in person through contact with current leaders. Course Objectives
1. To provide role models of skilled leaders through literature, film, cases, and presentations.

2. To develop leadership skills in value-based decision making.

3. To practice critical thinking around ethical dilemmas in leadership.

4. To prepare students for the leadership challenges that they are likely to face at work.

5. To learn about followership and its relationship to leadership.

Links to University Resources
Students enrolled in this seminar will have opportunities for enhanced experiences through the Helen P. Denit Honors Program, the Hoffberger Center for Professional Ethics, and the Center for Student Involvement. Some activities are scheduled and some are being developed to be placed in the class schedule later in the semester. This seminar will be evolving as the needs and preferences of seminar participants are identified and then matched with available opportunities.

Course Requirements
Students will be expected to attend each class and to participate fully. A seminar depends on the involvement of each member, especially because the class size is relatively small. There will be graded assignments, which require thinking, and writing, preparation and presentation to the class and to other invited participants, and development of a journal. Details and requirements for these projects will be provided separately.

Very Special Dates
Friday, May 2, 2003 10 am to 12 noon - Leadership Program by Seminar Participants for Leadership Certification Program students.
