Posting Article Summaries, Conclusions and Discussion to WebTyco

Note:  Team Article summaries and conclusions must be posted to Webtyco by Sunday, midnight, before the following Monday inclass meeting.

Purpose of article summaries and questions:

The first purpose of having you write summaries for each article is to insure that you are well prepared for class discussions. Secondly, the article summaries will help you prepare for the midterm and final exams, as will the discussions in class.  For each of the three Harvard Business case teams, team members will post and discuss online, (WebTyco) the articles assigned for that week. Before the following inclass meeting, each team will post a short summary of the article and describe implications of the findings for issues involving the topics of motivation, satisfaction, and leadership. Note that some of the articles may have implications for all three, or perhaps for none of the topics. Each team will also determine what, if any, of the findings can be relevant to the Harvard Case study under consideration.

**See below for detailed information on the posting and discussion**. In the following inclass meeting, we will discuss the articles, comparing each Team’s summary and postings.

While course credit will not be awarded for the summaries and questions, failure to submit them will lead to a decrement in the final grade (for as much as possibly 10 %).  Initial postings for each student’s article summaries and discussion will be due before midnight on Monday of the online meeting date.  I will periodically review summaries submitted and provide feedback to the class with regard to the quality of submissions and specific issues that may need to be addressed.

Instructions for online posting of article summaries and discussion:

During the online week, team members must discuss one another’s article postings and formulate a Team conclusion regarding the implications and applications.

Note: the team leader or facilitator should try to keep the thread intact and control the discussion, keeping it coherent and on track. Consideration of empirical findings from other research, articles is strongly encouraged. By incorporating empirical findings and positions from other sources, each team member will benefit from by being able to use the input for his or her individual case report.

3. Final posting to the class:

Each team will post a final statement and conclusion to the entire class for discussion in the subsequent inclass meeting. We will compare and contrast the team conclusions, particularly how they relate to implications and applications.
