APPL 644 Job Analysis Team Project
Job Analysis (does not require data
analysis)
Each JA Team will be comprised of three or four members. Team members will choose a job to analyze and identify the closest O*Net job that best fits the description.
The three
purposes for the JA are:
(1) To construct a Job Description and
(2) Craft a Recruitment Announcement that can be used by HR
(3) Construct a Performance Appraisal Rating Form (PARF)
Team Process: Decide online (Sakai) how you will conduct the team effort.
1. Leadership strategy (choose a team lead and facilitator (to ensure deadlines
are met)
2. Assign separate tasks to each team member
3. Assign report writing tasks (all must
participate)
4. Decide how team member will serve as SMEs
Team activities and deliverables
1. Establish objectives, and a time line that will
allow you to complete the project and submit it by the due date
2. Specify what job analysis method(s)
you will use to define the tasks and worker requirements (SKAOs needed) (O*Net)
3. Identify one
or more job SMEs needed to obtain reliable judgments in determining the
essential job tasks and duties

Develop a Structured JA Interview Protocol (Appendix)
5.
Conduct a JA
interview(s) with a real job incumbent who actually performs (or has performed)
the job
6. Identify the KSAOs and duties/tasks necessary
for successful job performance
1. Using an O*Net job (if available) have the SMEs
reconcile any differences in your target job, adding and deleting elements as
needed.
7. Each team member will serve as an SME along with
the job incumbent SME to:
1. Collect Task and KSAO ratings to validate the
importance and frequencies of the tasks/duties
2. Construct a linkage
table for KSAOs and Duties/tasks (Appendix)
