Alternate titles: Casting Supervisor

            Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in making cores and molds, in charging, operating, and tapping furnaces, in pouring molten metal into molds, and in chipping, grinding, and sandblasting castings. Examines materials and products at various stages of processing for conformance to specifications.  Observes machines and equipment for malfunction and orders adjustments or repairs, or directs workers to make adjustments or repairs.  Trains workers in foundry processes and in operation of machines and equipment.  Performs other duties as described under SUPERVISOR any industry) Master Title.  May be designated according to part of process supervised as Casting Supervisor (foundry).

Directs and coordinates through subordinate supervisory personnel, activities concerned with production of company product(s), utilizing knowledge of product technology, production methods and procedures, and capabilities of machines, and equipment: Confers with management personnel to establish production and quality control standards, develop budget and cost controls, and to obtain data regarding types, quantities, specifications, and delivery dates of products ordered.  Plans and directs production activities and establishes production priorities for products in keeping with effective operations and cost factors. Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

 

  Reviews and analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, and operating or production problems.  Develops and implements operating methods and procedures designed to eliminate operating problems and improve product quality.  Revises production schedules and priorities as a result of equipment failure or operating problems. Consults with engineering personnel relative to modification of machines and equipment in order to improve production and quality of products.  Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and refers unresolved grievances for management-union negotiations.  Supervises subordinates directly in plant having no GENERAL SUPERVISOR (any ind.) 167-018. MAJOR PURPOSE OF POSITION: To provide the overall leadership and direction for the Kalamazoo, Michigan fabrication operations to ensure that the products produced are consistent with customer requirements, of the highest possible quality and produced at the lowest possible cost.

·      Experience in metal fabrication operations, including welding, molding, high-tolerance machining and assembly required; aluminum fabrication preferred.

·      Strong knowledge of advanced quality programs (i.e., QS9000, ISO-9002, Six Sigma) desired.

            This position is a newly created one. The National Sales Director will oversee regional sales representatives and report to the Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The incumbent will be responsible for:

Applies knowledge of production methods, processes, machines and equipment, plant layout and production capacities of each department. Initiates personnel actions. Conducts hearings to resolve or effect settlement of grievances and forwards for management-union negotiations, unresolved grievances.

6. Purchasing Manager with Alum Aluminum, Inc. in the Sidney, OH plant location.

Position description:

 

            The Purchasing Manager reports directly to the General Manager of plant. The primary job duties of the Purchasing Manager are to:

 

(1)        Develop and implement a purchasing strategy for the Kalamazoo and Sidney plants.

(2)        Coordinate the administration of purchasing decisions with Q.A., Manufacturing, and Production Control.

(3)        Maintain records, and monitor inventories for all purchased and in-process goods.

(4)        Establish pricing for plant specific FSCs and ingots, and provide usage estimates to Corporate. 

(5)        Staff purchasing positions at both plant locations.

(6)        Represent Purchasing in all interdepartmental and external purchasing related matters. Specifically, directs and coordinates all purchasing related matters external to the purchasing department.

(7)        Represents Purchasing Department as a member of Appropriations committee and New Product Team.
