The following JavaScript test a claimed means difference and equality of variances of two normal populations based on two sets of random observations.

Enter your up-to-80 sample data from the first population, and the second population in the following two tables, respectively. Blank entry boxes are not included in the calculations but zeros are.

In entering your data to move from cell to cell in the data-matrix use the Tab key not arrow or enter keys.

Enter the claimed populations' means difference:

m1 - m2

for testing the means, and then click on either Calculate buttons.

H0: The populations' means difference is about the claimed value.
Ha: The populations' means difference is quite different than the claimed value.

H0: The populations' variances are about the same.
Ha: The populations' variances are quite different. The statistical quality of one population is much better than the other one.

Notes: The test for the means used in this JavaScript is general therefore applicable to all cases, the result is conservative being on the safe side.
The normality condition for means might be relaxed for sample sizes over 30. Moreover, these tests could also be used for other unimodal populations including those with discrete random variables, such as proportion, provided there is sufficient observations (say, over 30).

To edit your data, including add/change/delete, you do not have to click on the "clear" button, and re-enter your data all over again. You may simply add a number to any blank cell, change a number to another in the same cell, or delete a number from a cell. After editing, then click the "calculate" button.

For extensive edit or to use the JavaScript for a new set of data, then use the "clear" button.

Test of Hypotheses by Confidence Interval: Since the Confidence Intervals (CI) are the duals of tests of hypothesis, one may use CI for testing too. Therefore, as an alternative to direct test of hypothesis, one may use a two-sided or one-sided confidence interval to test a hypothesis with a two-sided or one sided alternative hypothesis, respectively. In this approach if the confidence interval with a desirable confidence level contains the null hypothesis value, then one might not reject the null hypothesis.

Mean1 = Media de la población 1
Mean2 = Media de la población 2
Varianza 1 = Varianza de la población 1
Varianza 2 = Varianza de la población 2
P- Value = Valor P
Statistic = Estadístico
Conclusion = Conclusión:
Very strong evidence against the null hypothesis = Evidencia bastante fuerte en contra de la hipótesis nula
Moderate evidence against the null hypothesis = Evidencia moderada en contra de la hipótesis nula
Suggestive evidence against the null hypothesis = Evidencia subjetiva en contra de la hipótesis nula
Little or no real evidences against the null hypothesis = Poca o no evidencia real en contra de la hipótesis nula
Strong evidence against the null hypothesis = Evidencia fuerte en contra de la hipótesis nula
